Group Widget
The Cureo Group Widget allows you to share content for a specific group external to the full Cureo application. You can use the Group Widget as a simple interface to share restricted content with your targeted group of channel members, but you can also use it to share public information with the outside world without requiring a login. Everything stays centralized and organized in Cureo.
A quick note, the Group Widget is completely unrelated to the Welcome Widget on your organization's website. You do not have to enable the Group Widget to allow channel members to be able to view shared content in the Welcome Widget.
The Group Widget is accessed via a permanent hyperlink assigned to the channel. This link can be used in articles, emails, and communications to direct individuals to the content. It may also be used as a destination from your website or can even be embedded into your site.
Sample uses for the Group Widget:
- As a destination link included in all your Board of Directors Communications, providing them one place to go and access all the content. This could be bookmarked on their devices, allowing them to quickly come back.
- As a self-help HR page on your intranet.
- To coordinate a major event for your organization (a scout troop planning for summer camp) and included as a link on your website.
- To power a public collaboration (ex. an opiate taskforce) in your community, using the link provided on all partner members websites.
In all the cases, the Group Widget becomes the one place all information is stored and presented – Important meetings or deadlines, common files used for information, and as a place for news and communications to be grouped together for easy access. --- The Group Widget keeps it all organized.
To get started, you need to be an Organization Administrator if you are creating a new channel or a Group Administrator if you need to create and share a widget for an existing channel.
Setting up a Group Widget for a brand new group
Click Add New Group.Your default permission settings will be based on how that group will be used. If you'd like more information on permission levels, this article explains in detail.
In order to make a Channel Widget, you must select Public. If you want all new content you create in this group will be marked as Public (Files, Events, and News) and you will also need to select Default new content to public.
Group Widget Settings
Find Group Settings on the Group Dashboard for the group you wish to use. Select Group Widget from the dropdown (note: the group must be set to public in order to view this). The Group Widget settings page allows you to customize the experience for your end users. The following items can be customized:
- Group image (for example, a logo)
- Title - this will default to the channel name, but can be edited
- Welcome Message - this would be the message that appears when a user opens the widget. Note, an anonymous user on a widget with Public content will not see a name.
- Website Tab Text
Make sure to Save any changes.
After you have created your Group Widget, you can use the URL link to share content on web pages, in an email, on social sites, inside a Cureo article, or anywhere you'd like to make the content available. To share the Group Widget, click Copy Widget Link to Clipboard and paste it where appropriate.
