Creating, Editing and Deleting Articles (News)

News can be used in a number of different ways, from newsletters, to board updates, to employee communications, the options seem endless. They are very simple to create and are optimized to be viewed on a mobile device. In addition, they give you a lot of visibility as to the engagement with the communication, allowing you to better manage your constituent communication strategy.

Types of News Items

Public – Anyone with the link can view it and includes social media sharing links
Targeted – Targeted to a specific channel(s)
You must be a Site Administrator or Team Channel Administrator to create News.

Create a New News Item

Create a new article by clicking the Add New News button. NOTE: This will open a new browser window.

A headline is required, then you can start adding content.

The default section is a text box. You can add additional sections by clicking the Insert Section button either above or below the text box (for example, if you would like to include an image before your text) and selecting the desired content type.

You can preview your article at any time to see how it looks by clicking the blue  Preview button or you can Save As Draft if you need to come back to it later. Once you have finished adding your content and are happy with your preview, click Next.

Select the appropriate Channel where the Article should be filed ( Remember: your mailing lists are also channels and can be selected here if it's only going to that group). Select your Publish Date (cannot be in the future at this time) and Expiration Date (if you wish the article to be removed from user view after a certain date...those who have been assigned as additional editors or the article and administrators will still be able to view it) and click Next.

Select one of the 2 article types, Public or Targeted. If Targeted is selected, you'll also select visibility options then click Next.

Select which, if any, of your targeted channels should receive the Article via email and click Next. Note: Targeted articles will only show users or channels that were included in the previous Visibility screen.

Review the confirmation screen. If everything looks good, click Next.

It’s a good best practice to send yourself a preview before you publish so you’ll know what your users will see (just click Save and send email preview).

If you are ready to send your Article, click Publish Now, otherwise click Save as Draft if you aren't quite ready to send.

Edit an Existing News Item (Draft or previously published)

Open the article you wish to edit. Click on the Edit button in the top bar.

Make your edits to the article content, and when complete, click Next.

Continue through the publishing wizard following the same instructions above for Creating a New Article.

Delete a News Item

Open the article you wish to delete and click the Delete button from the top bar.

Confirm deletion and you are done!
